Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris born October 20th 1964) is an American politician and attorney who is currently the 49th vice-president of the United States. Kamala Devi Harris is the first female vice president and the highest-ranking female official in U.S. history, as well as the first African American and first Asian American vice president. She is a senator and former US senator representing California. Harris was born in Oakland, California. She graduated from Howard University as well as the University of California Hastings College of the Law. Her first job was with the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Harris was later promoted to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003, she was appointed district attorney for San Francisco. Harris was elected Attorney General of California in the year 2010. In 2014, she was re-elected. Harris served as the junior United States Senator from California between 2017 to 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Sanchez to become the 2nd African American woman senator and the first South Asian American ever to be elected to the United States Senate. As senator, she was a vocal advocate for healthcare reform and federal de-scheduling of cannabis, a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants, the DREAM Act, a ban of assault weapons and progressive tax reform. Her name is well-known due to her direct questions to Trump government officials in Senate hearings.
